Hey there, thrashers/headbangers/moshers & rockers, welcome to the beginnings of a project to capture the early history of heavy metal in Milwaukee, as seen from behind the mic at WMSE 91.7fm.

We’ve lost some key voices on the scene since the 1980s, so I thought it would be a good idea to capture the spirit of those times for others to enjoy.  I have hundreds of hours of vintage radio shows, original demo tapes, interviews, show posters and news articles that would make for a great trip down memory lane.

Although I’m still recovering from the loss of my dear mother in January 2023, wish me luck in making progress with this project.  It’ll be dedicated to the memory of my late co-host, Paul “the Twisted Mister” Ropel, who had such a profound influence on my taste in metal.  -Mad Rol
